As Mobile Bartenders, we’ve had the privilege of shaking and stirring at some truly unique venues, but something new for us happened – a breathtaking experience of mixing drinks amidst the historic allure of Gig Harbor Vintage Aero Museum. Tucked away at the Tacoma Narrows Airport, we were welcomed by Executive Director, Brandon Baimbridge, to this 12,400 square foot airplane hangar, quickly realizing it wasn’t just an event space; it’s a captivating journey through the early 20th-century world of aviation, complete with vintage cars, motorcycles, and personal airplanes that whisper tales of a bygone era.

I recently had the pleasure of serving up some themed cocktails – like the also-classics, Kir Royale and Aviation cocktails, at a styled shoot hosted in this extraordinary venue during the early fall season of 2023. Collaborating with a team of remarkably talented vendors, we transformed this aviation marvel into a haven for love, history, and inspiration.
Walking into the Gig Harbor Vintage Aero Museum is like stepping back in time. The hangar is a treasure trove of nostalgia, housing a remarkable collection of early aircraft, meticulously maintained vintage cars, and classic motorcycles that have witnessed the evolution of transportation. For an aviation enthusiast, it’s akin to entering a sanctuary that pays homage to the pioneers of flight.

What struck me most was the seamless fusion of history and modern elegance within this unconventional setting. The juxtaposition of sleek wedding setups against the backdrop of these historical artifacts created a show-stopping setting. The aircraft hanging from the ceiling provided an awe-inspiring canopy, while the vintage cars, motorcycles, and parked airplanes added a touch of sophistication to the scene.
Collaborating with the team of vendors was an absolute delight. The synergy among the planner, photographers, florist, caterer, models was exciting. Every detail was meticulously crafted to complement the venue’s unique charm. From the floral arrangements that echoed the colors of the classic planes to the table settings that exuded a timeless elegance, every element was thoughtfully curated.

The ambiance was nothing short of magical as guests mingled amidst the displays of aviation history. As a Bartender, I found joy in crafting cocktails that mirrored the fusion of old-world charm and contemporary tastes.

Moreover, the museum aspect of this venue adds an educational dimension. For those with an interest in aviation history, it’s a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be explored. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or simply captivated by the romance of a vintage setting, this venue offers a unique experience that transcends the ordinary.
The Gig Harbor Vintage Aero Museum at Tacoma Narrows Airport is more than just a venue; it’s an immersive journey through time, a place where love stories intertwine with the legacy of flight. If you’re seeking a wedding venue that marries history, elegance, and a touch of adventure, this hidden gem might just be the soaring start to your happily ever after.
